It started with a love for animals and art…

Like many imaginative kids, I drew endlessly. Horses, unicorns, cartoons, and fairy tale illustrations were subjects in heavy rotation. My family always had pets and they were my best friends. This early connection to animals, combined with my love of playing with color and creating visual stories continued well beyond childhood. The introductory art classes I took in high school fed me but weren’t enough to keep me satisfied. I knew I had to pursue art; it’s who I am! I completed a degree in fine arts at Belhaven College in Jackson, MS. I’ve been inspired to create professionally for 20+ years and still counting.

I’ve lived the majority of my adult life in Nashville, TN and have been active in the art scene. I was part of Untitled Artists group, was chosen and graduated from the Arts and Business Council’s program and was an artist in residence at a downtown studio for over a decade. Today, I work primarily as a painter both creating custom paintings as well as teaching others how to create meaningful artwork. With my move to Vieques, P.R. in 2022, I opened Painted Paw Studio's first public business space! PPS's new location hosts a variety of art classes and showcases orginal art for sale, in addition to being my working studio space.

And turned into a love project for animals…

My childhood best friend had horses and I witnessed the amazing connection they had. One of the first portraits I created represented that bond. The reaction I received from her sparked a passion to turn it into a career. And then I fell in love. Seamus and Aka joined my husband and I as rescue pups- both from pit bull rescue organizations in the community. While we grew as a family, I couldn’t deny the new passion that emerged. I had to help animals. Today I am a fur mom of two handsome rescue pitties, Titan and Oslo, and one sweet natured cat, Bella. They continue to keep me inspired and 100% understand that meaningful bond we share with our pets.

All of my work is dedicated to supporting pets and the bond we share with them. A few of the organizations I’ve supported are Puppy Up, Pet Community Center, Crossroads , Nashville Pittie, Vieques Humane Society and Agape.
